We have to extend a big thank you to Sandy Kaptain from Art for All for mentioning Walkabout in today’s article in the Daily Herald.

For the 50th year, a fine arts show will take place in Elgin.

But this weekend's Art and Soul on the Fox will be presented by a group that has never put on the show, Art for All. "Our group's goal is to get artists out into the public's attention, so this show is another great way to do it, in addition to the year-round centers we already have around town to show off their work," said Sandy Kaptain, the chairwoman of Art for All.

The art show will include work from over 60 juried artists with all types of art, including painting, sculpting, photography, woodcarving and more.

Those 60 artists were selected from a group of 90 artists who applied from around the Midwest.
"Because of gas prices, the range this year isn't as large as it has been in recent years, but we do have one guy coming from Arizona," Kaptain said.

The art show will be in downtown Elgin, with some pieces at Dupage Court, but the bulk of the pieces will be on South Grove Avenue, which will be closed for the weekend.

Not limited to tangible art, Art for All coordinated with the Walkabout Theatre, which will perform [starting at 1p.m. Saturday at the Elgin Public House], and the Elgin Symphony Orchestra will play Sunday at 5:30 p.m.
