Why The Long Face?

Man’s best friend just got a makeover. And according to its creator, artist Kate Hoyer, it’s all about seeing old things in a new way.

“My particular style of painting started by playing with color schemes back in the early 1980’s,” she says. “Initially, I would create abstract drawings with stripes but then I had an epiphany – I wanted to combine the design of stripes with a recognizable subject – hence giving something ordinary a unique presence.”

This painting and others will be on display at the Alley of Art show, next to Al’s Café on August 15.
